Involution 9 04:28
Sometimes I walk away When all I really wanna do Is love and hold you right There is just one thing I can say Nobody loves you this way It's alright Can't you see? The downtown lights In love we're all the same We're walking down an empty street And with nobody, call your name Empty streets, empty nights The downtown lights How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know it's true? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's alright Tonight and every night Let's go walking down this empty street Let's walk in the cool evening light Wrong or right Be at my side The downtown lights It will be alright It will be alright The downtown lights Yeah, yeah How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know it's true? It's alright It's alright The downtown lights Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know you feel it? How do I know it's true? Yeah, yeah, the downtown lights The neon's and the cigarettes Rented rooms and rented cars The crowded streets, the empty bars Chimney tops and trumpets The golden lights, the loving prayers The colored shoes, the empty trains I'm tired of crying on the stairs The downtown lights Yeah, yeah
Things I've done They're never gone They're scattered all the way The kitchen floor The cracked wall Paint is peeling off I stumble over some chest of drawers some scraps of paper in the back of my mind another life... Please forgive the angry words The times I fell, and never rose The day I didn't show some love I never meant to leave you alone I can't pretend to be that strong I think you've broken all my bones But there's one thing I know I never thought that love could be so wrong

"A reflexive reaction or movement occurs immediately in response to something that happens."

A combined musical effort from Eugene and Marco Machera.

In light of recent (and not so recent) events, the previously unheard song "Involution 9" is a personal reflection on the impressive, natural human ability of preventing social evolution. It felt appropriate to release the track during the ever-changing times we are moving through.

The creative process leading to "Involution 9" has evolved (no pun intended) over different degrees of collaboration - best exemplified by a special rework of "The Downtown Lights", one of our favourite songs by The Blue Nile, and an alternate duo version of "The Things", never included on a studio release before.

Play it loud, at night - possibly paired with good whiskey, or beverage of your choice.
